Local 137 will again walk in the annual Springfield Labor Day Parade. We will meet at Local 137 at 8:30 for breakfast and to pick up candy and shirts. The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Sept. 4 in downtown Springfield and last until about noon. UIS United Faculty, the union representing faculty members at the University of Illinois Springfield, will lead the parade as its grand marshal. Girl Scout Troop 6195 will serve as color guard. Participants in the parade, sponsored by the Springfield and Central Illinois Trades and Labor Council, will gather in the Horace Mann Educators Corp. parking lot on Jefferson Street between Seventh and Ninth streets. The parade then will proceed west on Jefferson to Fifth Street, south on Fifth to Capitol Avenue, east on Capitol to Sixth Street, north on Sixth to Washington, east on Washington and end near Horace Mann.
